Now that we're spending so much extra time at home as of late, we've been leaning pretty heavily into our 'self-care' routine to look after our mental health. Although we're living in sweatpants most of the time, our houseplants are loving the extra attention and our home is spick and span. Most importantly, we've never been so clean + moisturised in our entire lives!
Something we realised pretty quickly was the we did *not* have nearly enough bubble bath liquid and not a single face/ hair masque product to our name. In the aim of being frugal and keeping ourselves busy at the same time, we have a few simple (and fun!) recipes for your new Quarantine Self Care Routine.
Homemade Avo + Oatmeal Face Masque Recipe
When thinking about what type of face masque we wanted to create, we first had to assess what we already had in the house, and naturally being a millennial, we had more than one avocado (woohoo).
Along with being super delicious, avocado actually contains a whole range of vital minerals such as calcium, iron, copper, potassium, magnesium that are amazing for your body + skin. Including an avo into our face masque is perfect because it's suitable for all skin types, enhances skin elasticity (goodbye smile lines) and is perfect for treating sensitive, dry or acne prone skin.
We're also adding some uncooked oatmeal because it acts as a gentle exfoliator that clears off dead cells + oil from the surface of your skin while unclogging your pores at the same time!
What You'll Need
- 1 ripe avocado
- 2 tablespoons oatmeal
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional)
Mash the avocado (+ mix it with honey if you like)
Add oatmeal into the mixture and then leave it to sit for a few of minutes to let the oats soften.
Apply it all over your face and leave it on for 15 minutes.
Rinse it off with cold water and pat your face dry.
